Shaken or stirred? Classic Gin Cocktail Recipes For Any Occasion

From classics to unique gin cocktails, Two Shores Gin will add memories to any drink.

  • Shaking

Cocktails that should be shaken are ones that contain dairy, cream liqueurs, fruit juices, eggs, or sour mix. These drinks get a better balance of flavor and alcohol when there is more diluting involved.

  • Chilling

Using a shaker might look simple but you need a strong wrist to really combine the ingredients and make sure everything is really chilled.

  • Muddling

Muddling involves putting the fresh ingredients into the bottom of a glass. Add the syrup or fruit and use the muddler to push all the flavor out of the ingredients - usually takes about 30 seconds.

  • SIPPING

Unlike whiskey, rum, or even tequila, gin isn't typically sipped but there are exceptions to every rule and we recommend you trying Two Shores Gin for such an occasion.

  • Frothy

Who doesn’t like a bit of froth on the top! If you are vegan then try using garbanzo water to give the appearance of egg white.

  • fruity

Mix it up with some fresh fruit, a variety of tonic, vermouth or another flavor-modifying mixer.

Classic Gin Cocktails

Gin and Tonic Recipe

Classic and easy, the gin and tonic (or G&T) is light and refreshing. It's a simple mixed drink that requires just the two named ingredients and a hint of lime, all of which are natural flavor companions. One thing to keep in mind is that your gin and tonic is only as good as both the gin and the tonic.

Ingredients:

2 ounces gin

4 to 6 ounces tonic water, to taste

Lime wedge or slices, for garnish

The BASIL SMASH

Two Shores Gin complements the aromatics of the basil giving a vibrant and very lovely cocktail. Using a shaker, place basil and lemon into it and gently muddle the lemon and basil “smashing” the ingredients. Add sugar syrup and gin and top up with ice. Shake vigorously, strain and pour over ice. Garnish with basil leaves.

Ingredients:

2 oz Gin

1 oz Fresh lemon juice

1/2 oz Sugar Syrup (depending on sweetness preference)

1 Bunch Basil leaves

The Bramble

The Bramble is a refreshing and crowd-pleasing cocktail perfect for Two Shores Gin.

Add the gin, lemon juice and simple syrup into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled. Fine-strain into an Old Fashioned glass over crushed ice. Slowly pour the Blackberry liqueur over for a dramatic finish.

Ingredients:

2 ounces gin

1/2 ounce Blackberry Liquor

1/2 Lemon Juice

Simple Syrup to taste

2-4 ounces soda water, to taste

Fresh Blackberry and mint leaf, for garnish

Gimlet Recipe

A shining gem among the classic cocktail set, the gimlet has long been appreciated as one of the best gin sours. The two-ingredient recipe simply pairs gin with lime cordial, resulting in a sweet-tart taste simultaneously contrasted and complemented by gin's botanicals. The gimlet has been around since the late 1800s. You can adjust the ratio of gin to lime cordial, mix up a vodka gimlet, make your own lime cordial, switch to lime and simple syrup, shake it, or serve it on the rocks.

Ingredients

2 1/2 ounces gin

3/4 ounce lime cordial

Lime wedge or slice, for garnish

Cherry Gin and Tonic Recipe

Something about the sweetness of the muddled cherries and the bitter tang of the tonic works together perfectly. This drink is perfect for any summer cocktail hour, and although you may have seen this drink offered in bars and restaurants, made with cherry syrup, it is best with fresh cherries.

Ingredients:

6 ripe sweet cherries

1/4 cup gin

2 teaspoons lime juice, or to taste

Tonic water, to taste

Sliced lime, optional

VESPER Recipe

Every James Bond fan knows this recipe as the first martini that Bond ordered in Ian Fleming's 1953 book, "Casino Royale" (or the 2006 movie). Named after the seductive double agent Vesper Lynd, it is possibly the most famous drink order in history and extremely precise. This drink is purely fictional. The Vesper is a fascinating cocktail. Compared to the gin martini, it has a slightly sweet, bitter taste contributed by Lillet, while the vodka tames the gin's botanicals. It's a drink that both gin and vodka drinkers can appreciate and fun to tweak to your personal taste.

Ingredients

3 ounces gin

1 ounce vodka

1/2 ounce Lillet Blanc, or dry vermouth

Lemon peel, for garnish

Negroni Recipe

When you're looking for a classic cocktail to enjoy before a meal, few are as satisfying as the famous Negroni. It's a sophisticated aperitif featuring equal parts of gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth and so easy that anyone can mix it up.

Campari can be an acquired taste that some people will love, while others will not. In this cocktail, the sweet vermouth and herbal gin offset some of the Italian spirit's bitterness so it's more palatable. This also makes the Negroni a nice drink to use when training your taste buds to enjoy bitter aperitifs.

Ingredients:

1 ounce gin

1 ounce sweet vermouth

1 ounce Campari

Orange twist or slice, for garnish

Gin Floradora Recipe

1/2 ounce crème de framboise liqueur

1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice

4 ounces ginger ale

Lime wedge, for garnish

French 75 Recipe

The French 75 is one of the most popular Champagne cocktails. The beauty of this drink is in its simplicity and bright citrus taste. With a base liquor of gin or cognac accented by simple syrup, lemon juice, and the vibrant bubbles of sparkling wine, it's a lovely drink that's perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

1 to 2 ounces gin, or cognac, to taste
